Top JUCO Big Waverly Austin Commits To South Florida

Sep 25, 2011 12:42 PM

South Florida has received a verbal commitment from a top junior college prospect for the second consecutive day.

Waverly Austin, one of the top JUCO post prospects committed to South Florida.

As a freshman at Palm Beach State, Austin averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds per game.

After attending numerous high schools, he did not qualify for initial eligibility to play for the Bulls out of high school.

When Austin signed with South Florida in 2009, coach Stan Heath was quoted in the official press release as saying,”At 6-10, 240-pounds, Waverly is just scratching the surface of his ability. He has good skills, good hands for a big guy, he runs the floor and he plays above the rim. It’s just a matter of him learning the college system, getting bigger and stronger, and developing his skills to use at this level. We expect him to be a very productive player for USF.”

Austin recently listed Miami, Maryland, Florida, South Florida, Baylor, Kansas and Missouri as potential suitors.
